I don't think it's a terrible mark against Docear, though, because if a word or phrase didn't appear in any of my highlights, annotations, summary, or any assigned attributes. Some people have suggested it on the forum and they seem open to adding the feature, but there's nothing for now. The biggest thing some other ref management software has and Docear doesn't is full text pdf search. To run a software written in Java, you need to install the free Java Runtime Environment (Java JRE). And filtering preserves the organization, so I can see where everything came from. Docear runs on Windows (XP, Vista, 7, 8, 10, or later), Linux, or Mac OS (10.5 or later) Java 1.5 (or later) Java is the programming language in which Docear (and many other programs) is written in. It's really easy to filter a huge map too if you need to search for anything. The first one is a Docear->Docear4Word button. Actually, we added two new elements to the Add References dialog. I can quickly grab existing notes and work off of a new mind map for papers, then when it comes time to revise it, I'm never (well almost never) left wondering what I had been trying to say or what connections I had been trying to make because I can see how my thought process to get there was organized in my notes. Docear4Word 1.1 is available for download and it offers two new features that will improve your work with references in Microsoft Word a lot. I can't say much about switching over, but I can say that I found taking a little bit of time to get used to Docear was worth it. I never used any other tools, but actively organize everything for myself in Docear and it is wonderful. ![]()
